Background information

King Costa and Associates (KC&A) is an ETD Practice (education, training and development) founded in May 2002 by King Costa, with a sole purpose of providing clients with access to credible, real-time information, education and communication in the area of organisational development and healthcare.

Employing such all-encompassing strategies as the "CASE" concept (Communication, Advice, Solutions and Education) to address the organisational needs in its entirety, our firm has established itself as one of the few young and black-led and owned companies that do not compromise class and standards.

We are ideally positioned to deal with the major changes and economic impacts that lie ahead for our nation and a rapidly developing sub-Saharan continent. Our operating mandate is simple: to help our clients improve their business, from addressing broad issues to dealing with specific problem areas. Our consultants and associates are committed to becoming an integral part of the client’s business – staying in touch with changes, learning with them, focusing not just on current needs, but on future strategies and the changing needs these will bring.

KC&A is registered with the Services SETA as a provider of education and training in line with the Skills Development Act and the SAQA. Our company affiliates to The HRD Group based in the United Kingdom. Through this association, our programmes are accredited by Investers In People. We are also accredited by the international Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), a subsidiary of City and Guilds also based in London. All our trainers go through a fitness programme through the ILM to meet local and international standards of delivery.

We are business and industry experts, conversant with the issues and opportunities in a wide range of industries. This broad knowledge is combined with expertise in specific disciplines, to form a totally professional value provider. Backed by a team of medical doctors and professionals with industry experience, particularly in the area of HIV/AIDS and Organisational Development, we are able to meet the diverse needs of clients in South Africa and beyond.

Kwakho is a professional educator, a former teacher and marketer for Old Mutual. He is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management as a trainer. He has trained a number of organisations in healthcare and leadership.

Chrys is a professional educator and former teacher. He has been a Programme Director for Love Life/PPASA youth development.

Dr Nelda Swart

MbChb, Diploma in Business Management, Certificate in Counselling

Dr Swart is a medical practitioner and HIV/AIDS trainer.

Nomsa Makopo

BAed, (UWC) MA in HIV/AIDS (USB)

Nomsa, formally with the ETQA division of the HWSETA, has been involved in a number of training projects on the subject of HIV/AIDS

About the Managing Director

King Costa is the founder and MD of King Costa & Associates (KC&A). With a network of more than 10 high quality professionals specialized in different business disciplines ranging from medicine, actuarial, finance, legal, education etc, the CASE concept was birthed with a clear purpose of bringing tailor packaged solutions to our targeted clients.

King Costa has worked in a number of organizations from FMCG and manufacturing sector to financial services sector where he gained a lot of experience in agriculture, insurance, healthcare and business management. With a diploma in financial management and an Executive Diploma inManagement, King Costa is also an MBA graduate of the University ofBedfordshire, UK and is currently pursuing a combined Masters andDoctorate in Public Health.

King Costa is an accredited member of the Life Underwriters' Association (LUASA) and an Associate of the Institute of Business Management.

He was co-founder and executive chairperson of Prosmed Medical Fund from 1994 to 1998. He has worked as a claims manager for Prosperity Insurance Company from 1994 to 1998, having joined the company in 1990 in Umtata, Eastern Cape.

He worked for The Rand Mutual Assurance, a healthcare/stated benefits company as an assistant claims manager in 1998 to 2000. From the year 2000 to 2001 he has worked as a consultant to NBC Consultants and Actuaries and NMG Consultants and Actuaries and has provided training and communication on healthcare matters to a number of retirement funds and companies including the Transvaal Suiker Board, Tiger Brands Provident Fund, Samancor, Rennies Provident Fund, Randcoal Provident Fund, NSB Provident Fund and Pick n' Pay. At NMG, he started the AIDS Unit, providing management strategies and training to organisations. He is currently the Director of Learning Programmes for the Institute of Leadership and Management in the SADC region. Together with SACOB, he has held seminars and training programmes for SMMEs on how to manage impacts of HIV/AIDS on small organisations.
